The following codes and icons are used in the Mathematics K–10 Syllabus.

Outcome coding

Syllabus outcomes have been coded in a consistent way. The code identifies the subject, the stage, the outcome number and the way content is organised.

The stages are represented by the following codes:

This image shows what each digit in the sample outcome code MAe–1WM represents. MA stands for Mathematics, e for Early Stage 1; a dash is used next, followed by 1 for the outcome number and WM for the strand Working Mathematically.

Coding of the Australian curriculum content

The syllabus includes all the Australian curriculum content descriptions for Mathematics. The content descriptions are identified by an Australian curriculum code, which appears in brackets at the end of each content description, for example:

  • Count collections to 100 by partitioning numbers using place value (ACMNA014).

This image shows what each digit in the sample ACARA code ACMNA014 represents. AC stands for the Australian Curriculum, M for Mathematics, NA for the Number and Algebra strand and 014 for the element code.
