Years 7–10 Life Skills outcomes

Life Skills outcomes are presented alongside Stage 4 and 5 below, and may be used to explore content related to each outcome.

The Life Skills outcomes can also be viewed as two outcomes tables:

  • a table of Life Skills outcomes, which shows the syllabus objectives and all Life Skills outcomes
  • a table of Life Skills and related syllabus outcomes, which shows the relationship between Life Skills and Stage 4 and Stage 5 outcomes.  

 

Objective A

Through responding to and composing a wide range of texts and through the close study of texts, students will develop knowledge, understanding and skills in order to:

  • A. communicate through speaking, listening, reading, writing, viewing and representing*

* Some students with special education needs communicate through a variety of verbal or non-verbal communication systems or techniques. It is important to take account of the individual communication strategies used by these students within the content of the English K–10 Syllabus. 

Objective B

Through responding to and composing a wide range of texts and through the close study of texts, students will develop knowledge, understanding and skills in order to:

  • B. use language to shape and make meaning according to purpose, audience and context

 

Objective C

Through responding to and composing a wide range of texts and through the close study of texts, students will develop knowledge, understanding and skills in order to:

  • C. think in ways that are imaginative, creative, interpretive and critical

 

Objective D

Through responding to and composing a wide range of texts and through the close study of texts, students will develop knowledge, understanding and skills in order to:

  • D. express themselves and their relationships with others and their world

 

Objective E

Through responding to and composing a wide range of texts and through the close study of texts, students will develop knowledge, understanding and skills in order to:

  • E. learn and reflect on their learning through their study of English
